A Pocketful of Ammonites

A Pocketful of Ammonites was inspired by a trip to Charmouth beach on a blustery sunshine & showers day in October a couple of years ago. Words flew around in my mind, along with images of drawings of fossils. It took a while before the idea of a homage to Mary Anning was planted in my mind.

I initially extracted text from internet resources, with the notion of creating a story about a girl who collected ammonites, but in the end paired the idea back to a simple list of fossils.

When read out loud, there is a beautiful rhythm to the words.
